1) Tom gave a report about the gyp room situation, explaining how a paper had been submitted to college council outlining the amount of compensation the undergraduates want (a reduction of one rent band). He noted that the deadline for bills has been moved back (to 2nd November), and that while he had still not received a written timetable, Dr. Munday had said that microwaves should be fitted in all kitchens/gyp rooms by Friday 19th October.
Seiriol announced that elections would be called on Friday 19th October.

Arun explained that £5000 would be taken from KCSU’s reserves for the budget this year, and that he recommends this, as he is currently negotiating with college to get more money per student for KCSU, and by spending their reserves they are strengthening their case that they deserve more money.
A vote was taken and the budget was passed.
(ii) KCSU notes: 1)In 1658 Bishop James Ussher, Vice-Chancellor of Trinity College Dublin, published his Annals of the World. 2)Within this document was a calculation of the age of the Earth 3)Based on this estimate, the world's 6010th birthday will occur this Tuesday 23rd October at approximately 5.30pm. 4)The value given by Ussher is the most widely used estimate of the Earth's birthday in modern times.
